Overview

Stud bolts are headless, externally threaded fasteners with threads on both ends, designed to be used with two nuts—one on each side—to securely join flanged connections, pressure vessels, valves, and piping systems. Unlike standard hex bolts, stud bolts provide superior clamping force distribution and are the preferred choice for critical bolting in high-temperature and high-pressure environments.

Our stud bolts are manufactured in strict compliance with ASTM A193 / ASME SA193 – the industry benchmark specification for alloy steel and stainless steel bolting materials for high-temperature or high-pressure service. Available grades include:

  • Grade B7 – Quenched and tempered medium-carbon alloy steel (AISI 4140/4142), the most widely specified grade for general high-temperature service, with minimum tensile strength of 125 KSI

  • Grade B7M – Modified B7 with controlled hardness for sour service (NACE MR0175/ISO 15156)

  • Grade B16 – Quenched and tempered alloy steel for elevated temperature service up to 1100°F

  • Grade B8 / B8M – Stainless steel (304 / 316) for corrosion-resistant applications
