Thread Cutting Screws | DIN 7516 | ANSI Type F / BF

Overview

Thread cutting screws remove material via cutting flutes to form clean internal threads. They require a pre-drilled pilot hole but need lower driving torque than thread-forming screws and cause less stress on the workpiece.

When to Use

• Hard materials (cast iron, steel, stainless steel)

• Brittle plastics (prevents cracking)

• Lower insertion torque required

• Chips are acceptable

• Case-hardened carbon steel (1022/10B21) – Core 25–40 HRC, case 50–60 HRC (cutting edges)

• SS410 – Heat-treatable, wear-resistant, good corrosion resistance

• SS304 / SS316 – General and marine corrosion resistance
